My journey into
Art Therapy

I began my career in the film industry, but over time I noticed my own mental health beginning to deteriorate. I also saw the same struggles in people around me, yet mental health was still rarely spoken about in my culture. The part of my work I enjoyed most was helping people create, and I became curious about the connection between creativity and wellbeing. That curiosity eventually led me to discover Art Therapy and to train as an Art Therapist in Edinburgh.

Why I work with
older adults
and carers

I grew up in Hong Kong with a very close relationship with my grandmother, who taught me patience, love and resilience. As she grew older, I saw not only her wisdom but also the challenges that ageing can bring. Later, I cared for her directly and experienced how emotional, tiring and meaningful that role can be. These experiences are why I am passionate about supporting older adults through art therapy, and why I value the role of carers just as much.

In my practice, I offer a safe and welcoming space where we can share stories, make art or simply be together. My hope is to walk alongside you, helping you find comfort, meaning and connection at whatever stage of life you are in.

My clinical experience

I have experience as an Art Psychotherapist working with young people facing bereavement, supporting young carers, and accompanying those with neurodiversity. Within the NHS, I have also worked in an inpatient unit, supporting people with acquired brain injuries as they adjusted to changes, explored recovery, and reconnected with their sense of self and identity.

Currently, I am practising as a Mental Health & Wellbeing Arts Worker, working alongside the Gypsy/Traveller community. Much of this role involves supporting older adults and carers, offering creative and relational spaces that honour their lived experiences.

I also bring experience from volunteering at a suicide prevention hotline, where I supported people in moments of crisis. These varied experiences continue to shape my practice, strengthening my belief in the power of creativity, presence, and human connection in fostering resilience and wellbeing.

Life outside
the therapy room

Outside of my therapy work, I enjoy a simple and creative life. I make art for myself, play the piano and dance — sometimes just in my kitchen. I also love driving, which gives me a sense of freedom and empowerment.

Like everyone else, I face ups and downs, and moments of creativity, movement and time with my partner and our cats help me stay grounded. These small joys remind me of the importance of connection and creativity in everyday life, the same values I bring into my work with seniors and carers.
